Villa Montosoli 2011

Pietroso

Villa Montosoli is a cru, which comes from one vineyard, the vineyard of the same name on the top of the Montosoli hill at 350 meters above sea level and was planted about 40 years ago: 100% Sangiovese. A classic wine particularly in the expression, almost wild in the nose on the first impact, then the component of land and vine opens, there is sweetness of fruit, but an important wine bouquet. In the mouth it reflects the aromas, nervous, on a tannic particularly valuable for the density and fine-grained tannins, the acidity is low, but the effect is equally of freshness for the tannin clean-incisive. Lush large, in final mouth.

The comment of our oenologist

Villa Montosoli, a wine from a single vineyard, the legendary Mont o Soli, a hill located in the north of Montalcino with full sun exposure. Vineyards of over 40 years of Sangiovese with loosly-packed bunches for a particularly classic wine, already at the first impact with the nose austere; sharp and precise. The fact that no fruity sweetness hides the structure of this wine along with the noble grain of the tannins make this wine fascinating.

Terroir
Vineyard in three different areas of the municipality Montalcino, a balanced product even in vintages with particular climatic conditions. Very suitable terroirs, rich in cancass, high quality grapes due to the constant and careful manual work, the green pruning and the thinning-out of the clusters. The altitude varies from 350 to 450 m over sea level; this allows a gradual maturation of the grapes, in order to in the nowadays ever warmer and dryer summers prolong the beginning of the harvest to the first week of October. Soil rich in clay and marl. Windy and dry weather, excellent sun exposure, and an extremely favorable microclimate.
