Cascina Luisin

Garnet red color with orange reflections; the wine is intense and persistent in the nose, which means it has an exceptionally complex olfaction that, depending on its evolution, tends to prefer fruity and floral hints like violet and vanilla, or tertiary notes of goudron and spices. In the mouth, the "hard" components (acidity, tannins and salt) are balanced with the "soft" ones (alcohols and polyols), with exceptional intensity and persistence that make out of the Barolo a powerful wine, elegant and with a great personality.

The comment of our oenologist

Barolo Leon. This is the work of the new generation; in the past, a Barbaresco winery would have only produced Bararesco and a Barolo winery would have only produced Barolo. However, only the passion for Nebbiolo could lead Roberto to search for a Barolo vineyard in order to produce a great wine and to place it next to the Barbaresco. A vineyard that he personally takes care of, and his work is tangible from the first sip. 2008 is an important vintage, a wine that demands particular attention, imposes itself, but is also able to express all its structure. The tannin here is more mature than with the Barbaresco, chocolate-like, it capitates the whole mouth, less cutting. This wine is so well-balanced and harmonic, that it is already enjoyable right now: it has a great aging potential in the bottle, but unlike the barolos with harsh tannin that require years in the bottle, here we have a classic and harmonic wine, that could also immediately be enjoyed. Like all great red wines, it can be categorized as a meditation wine.


Cascina Luisin


Exposure: south-east. Age of the vineyard: 36 years. The soil is now clay, followed by sandy-clay, and then sandy. Dry continental weather. It is important to stress that even if the vineyards of Cascina Luisin are all close to one another, significant organoleptic differences result from the different exposures and soils. Therefore, Cascina Luisin can pass from more structured solutions to softer and more fruity wines.

Cultivation Method
Pruning system: Guyot. Production per hectare: 40 q/ha.
Vinification & Aging
Fermentation: Maceration on the skins for 3 weeks in concrete vats. Malolactic fermentation and aging in Slavonian oak barrels of 20 hl. Aging: 30 to 36 months.
